MHSI-NG Holds Grant Inception Meeting and Launches “Bridging the Gap” Training in Imo State

Men’s Health Support Initiative, Nigeria (MHSI-NG) recently marked an important milestone with the successful holding of the Grant Inception Meeting for the Bridging the Gap Project in Imo State.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders, state actors, select hospitals, facility leads, project staff, and partners to formally begin implementation of the initiative. Discussions focused on the project’s objectives, implementation strategies, roles and responsibilities, commitments, and expected outcomes. It also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and build a shared understanding of the project’s vision.

As part of the project rollout, MHSI-NG also flagged off a three-day capacity-building training for selected healthcare workers from HIV treatment facilities across the state. The training is designed to integrate Key Population-focused healthcare teams into general health facilities in order to promote inclusive, equitable, and stigma-free access to quality HIV prevention, treatment, and care services.

According to Dr. Chidinma Okoro, Director-General of IMOSACA, the initiative is aimed at reducing stigma and discrimination while improving access to quality HIV services for Key Populations, including FSWs, MSM, PWID, TG, and persons in custodial centres.

Participants actively engaged in the training sessions, demonstrating commitment to improving service delivery and strengthening HIV response systems across Imo State. Certificates of participation were later presented to trainees in recognition of their successful completion and dedication to better healthcare delivery.

Through the Bridging the Gap Project, MHSI-NG remains committed to improving health outcomes, reducing barriers to healthcare access, and ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of quality healthcare.

Together, we are bridging the gap for optimal health outcomes.
